constructive criticism mondays ?

So I've noticed that bloggers in general have special features on their blogs.  Now I haven't seen this on another blog so I apologize if it's already in existence and I'm claiming the idea as my own, but here goes.  What I've noticed for the most part while browsing blogs endlessly is that the comments are all positive, and for the most part, generally positive, for example, "Gorgeous outfit!".  While this is a nice, warm and fuzzy compliment, I am using my blog to learn more about how dress myself in a flattering way.  Today is a good day to start this I think, since I sort of like my outfit, but definitely feel it could use some improvement.   So please, feel free to provide some constructive criticism!  I welcome your ideas and comments.

I apologize for the lighting in these.  It began to pour rain, and even with all the blinds wide open I couldn't get enough light.  Enter reading spotlight!

So - what might you change/add/remove if you were my stylist?

  1. My own criticism is that the photos don't do the colour of the skirt justice. It's a lovely shade of medium coral, not the horrid greyish hot pink showing in that last photo. Yikes!

  2. i'm definitely liking your take on the whole color blocking trend...but if it were me i think i would wanna add another bright color into the mix instead of just a plain tank :)
    just my two cents....

  3. Definitely agree... even if I kept the tank I'd add in maybe a dark kelly green bag/clutch. Thanks for your feedback dotie!

  4. This is a great idea. I get so sick of the standard "nice skirt!" comments. I'd love to hear what people really think. For this outfit, I really like the color combination, but I would like to see it with a less chunky shoe. Maybe a wedge heel or even some sort of platform sandal! I'd love to see you do a post where you take peoples styling suggestions and see which people like best!

  5. Overall the outfit is cute and very springy, so I would change the belt from a dark brown to maybe a thinner metallic type belt. But the colors are great together! I really love the yellow and coral.

  6. I love the color combo, but i'm not crazy about the boots. they are too bulky for such a light breezy look. And, i know it's the worst, but you've got to get the iron out!

  7. ooh, fun new feature! Firstly I'm loving all these gorgeous hues together. As for things that I would change? I'd choose a lighter shoe... and a skinny belt. OK, there you have it my two cents, but you still look fab. x veronika

  8. i would wear a skinny braided belt, and wear that over the cardigan and tank instead of under the cardi. and i would wear a lighter sandal. but i love the color blocking and these colors together!

  9. haha, love it... Lyddiegal you nailed that one... I didn't notice the wrinkles at all! (And last time I used an iron... well let's just say I still have the scar from that fine day). Aron is the ironer - I'll have him on it! Thanks for your feedback.

  10. Ok let me just say how pleased I am with all of your comments. I chose the boots because it was raining (again) and I am tired of wearing rainboots all the time (you will see them in today's post, coming up). Can't wait to try the skirt again with a daintier shoe... as the temperature rises finally here in TO. In fact I am tempted to re-do this outfit sooner rather than later...watch out for it! xo Jenn

  11. You look great...love the color combination. For a varied look I would add a skinny belt over a cardigan!!!And maybe some flats for a casual weekend look.
